Cheap price doesn't have to mean cheap quality.
Ampersand's goal is to provide you with high quality, high impact print communications with low impact on the planet and your wallet. Unlike many in the print industry who have turned to lower quality, less environmentally friendly materials to stay competitive, Ampersand has continuously reinvested in process automation technology to offset the costs of our premium quality, service and environmental initiatives.

Award Winning JDF Digital Workflow
Ampersand's digital workflow is the centerpiece of our new state of the art facility. Based on the industry standard Job Definition Format (JDF) language, this workflow integrates both man and machine automating the production process and eliminating errors.

This automation reduces machine setup and downtime, increasing productivity and allowing us to pass significant savings on to our customers without sacrificing quality or environmental responsibility.

Ampersand has been recognized as a world leader in process automation in the printing industry with the awarding of 2 CIPPI Awards in the last 3 years for "Biggest Improvement in Efficiency and Customer Responsiveness" and "Best Process Automation Implementation". The CIP4 International Print Production innovation (CIPPI) Awards recognizes the achievements of innovative companies in the graphic arts industry. Ampersand remains the only Canadian company to ever win.

Automated Quality Control
In addition to process automation, Ampersand has implemented systems to automate quality control. Our Kodak Matchprint Proofing system has inline spectrophotometry which reads the colour of the proofs and ensures that they meet colour specifications.

In the press room, Ampersand has installed the Mitsubishi Colour Control System (MCCS-V) which uses an array of optical sensors to scan up to 240,000 points on the press sheet and compare the colourmetric (LAB) values to that of the digital file making press adjustments automatically as required. Once desired colour has been achieved the MCCS-V scans the sheets throughout the run ensuring that colour is consistent from the first sheet to the last.
